Logan is 3 months old

Logan is 3 months old

Size 3-6mo clothing
Size 1 diapers- soon to be in sz 2

Logan is such a sweet baby. He has really found his voice lately and likes to be a chatterbox when he is awake. He has discovered his hands and gets cross-eyed looking at them. He is learning to control them better and reaches and is able to grab toys on his bouncer seat and a rattle if it is placed in his hand. His hands and toys go directly to his mouth often. He is rolling from tummy to back and I think his little peach fuzz hair is starting to grow and continuing to look brown at least for now.

Logan sleeps great at night generally 8-9hours from bedtime at 7:30pm until he wakes to nurse. Then he generally will want to nurse again around 7:30-8am. He naps mostly on the go lately with our busy schedule, but when at home I can count on him taking about an hour nap in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon plus a bonus 30/45min snooze around dinner to help him make it to bedtime. He naps mostly in his bed, but occasionally in the afternoon with Mom. On the go he naps in the carrier I have borrowed from my friend and he does great snuggled in close to Mom. Overall, his personality seems sweet and easy going, but don't mess with the guy if he is hungry- he wants it now! And if he has gotten overly tired he will fuss, but take a pacifier and go to sleep easily. My first baby to take a paci at all. We'll take it for now!

So thankful for this sweet little one that made me a mommy of 3 boys. He completes our family and we are so grateful for him. Excited to watch him as he grows and changes each day.

Ethan is 3yrs old

This cute little guy has recently turned 3 years old! Wow! Time sure does fly. Ethan is a kid full of energy and spunk. He has some of the funniest things to say and lots of cute expressions to go along with it. Lately, early bedtimes are not his thing, but he could still nap for 3 hours a day if Mom would let him. We are trying to find a balance with keeping nap, just earlier and shorter, and still getting in bed asleep by 8-8:30pm. This past 9pm business is for the birds and makes Mom and Dad get frustrated some evenings. It is hard when he seems so cheery and happy to get mad with him for not sleeping, but it happens. Current goals are stay in bed and be quiet even if he doesn't want to sleep. He seems to have pretty much mastered staying in bed (except for a request for his blanket to be fixed or a potty run), but is often found singing and talking in bed which is loud as "whispering" just isn't his thing.

Ethan loves everything Lego Duplo, Paw Patrol, cars, and balls. He could also entertain himself for probably an hour playing outside in the backyard if I let him. He only wishes his big brother would share his love for the outdoors because he eventually gets lonely being alone out there with Mom watching on as I am often caring for baby Logan. Ethan is enjoying his first year of preschool with his friend, Jorge Saldivar, and attends Ridge Kids in Mansfield on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-2:30pm. He is learning new songs and the playground and music are his favorite parts of the day. We are trying to work on some scripture memorization, but he just isn't quite as interested as Ryan was at this age. He gets in the frame of mind where either he wants to do EVERYTHING by his "big self", or he can't to ANYTHING. So far Bible verses seem to fall under the "I don't remember, or I just can't do it" window. He is persistent and stubborn and clever about getting his way. He loves playing with big brother, Ryan, and after school they can be found running around the house with some type of imaginative play generally involving Paw Patrol characters.

Ethan had his 3 yr well check last week and weighed in at 32.4lbs (50th%) and 38.5" long (75th%). He is healthy and growing great, just dealing with his first ear infection this past month which has so far dragged on to two rounds of antibiotics (his first time having any!!). The whole family seems to have been dealing with allergies and a persistent cough and somehow I feel the ear infections must be related to the same virus/illness. We are hopeful it clears up very soon. Ethan is in 3T clothing, size 8.5 shoes, and can fully dress and undress himself minus his socks. Ethan has been in undies and completely potty trained since November of last year and was truly the EASIEST potty trainer yet. I am really very thankful. There seems to be something magical about 2 months after turning 2yrs old. After being in undies for about a month last year, he was staying dry at night too so he was in undies at night around Christmas or after it seems, but after a tummy bug late January, we had some issues with accidents overnight and Mom was tired and pregnant, so back into Easy Ups at night he went. He didn't remain consistent again until early this summer. When Logan was born, Ethan decided he was going to be a big boy again at night and wear undies like Ryan to bed, and thus far he has been back in undies overnight for a little over 2 months with only one accident of wetting the bed. Way to go big boy!

Below is a list of Ethan "sayings" and conversations that I have kept on my phone over the past 9 months or so because they were just so funny, or cute, or simply things I wanted to remember. I am posting them here for my own reference to look back on, but you might enjoy reading through them as well.  Ethan, you are a joy to our family and such a great little brother and big brother. Thank you for all the sweet smiles and hugs and kisses every day. You are loved!

Ethan conversations:

"Mommy have two babies", (I explain no, there is only one baby). He continues to argue that there are in fact two babies and points to each of my breasts "one baby, two baby". Then I had to explain that baby was in my tummy even though you couldn't see or feel him yet. (Jan 2015)

Boys wanted to wrestle and Dad said no bc Mom is in bed with our baby, so Ethan says:
"Mom get outta heah, we westlewing"
(March 2015)

Late night thoughts by E before bed all in the time span of a few minutes while I was rocking him in the nursery:
Looking at the smoke detector- "Mom, if der a yire (fire) in our house I dunna run out. The yire engine dunna come and det me"
"I tink baby name dunna be Henry, I dunno go tell Daddy his name is Henry" (which he did)
"Da ellow (yellow) train going tru de tunnel and it dark in der"
"Row row row your boat" song
(April 2015)

Laying in bed one night next to Ethan as he was trying to fall asleep. After about 5 min of complete silence he says: "Mom, does your tee tees come out of your bottom cause you no have a penis?" 😂 no Ethan, mommy has girl parts and doesn't tee tee out of my bottom. (May 2015)

Sitting in the rocking chair with Ethan before bed and I had a little toot, Ethan says "oh, I hear baby have a little burp" (lol)

"I tee a pider and I mashed it." (I see a spider and I smashed it) "Now it dead fowever." (May 2015)

When he gets mad at us he says "mommy (or daddy) I don't love you anymore." (Ouch)
Once he told me "I no love you mommy, I only love baby" pointing to my pregnant belly.

"Not you peas help me. I gonna do it by mytelf (myself)" (June 2015)

During TCU baseball playoff game mentioned their coach is Coach Schlossnagle. Ethan's response- "oh, dats a good name. Etan and Ryan Shoshnagle" 😆 haha

Latest Ethan-isms, (June)
"When I a Daddy, I donna (gonna)...."
- go to work like Daddy
- drink a beer
- drive a fast fast car
- go to the grocery store all by mytelf (myself)

"Daddy, I love you a million and million and million, a lot!"

Anytime we give Ethan a compliment he says "Nanks" (Thanks) it's pretty cute.

When Ryan gets upset with Ethan over something he often says "Ethan Robert Campbell" (though honestly I rarely say that). So, this week Ethan has started saying "Ryan Robert" when he gets mad at him haha! Ryan is quick to correct him that Alexander is his middle name, not Robert but it's still pretty funny. 😊 (July)

Talking about Logan in my belly- "he been in der long long time. Maybe he not ever dunna come out"

Ethan's nightly prayer (for MONTHS)
"Dear God, please help Daddy feel better and just help us be safe and healthy and just help us be safe and healthy. (x6) Amen."
(Dad was sick once in I think February...)

When meeting Logan, (July)
"Aw, he so 'toot' (cute). Him have any teeth?" No sweetie, he doesn't have any teeth. (Checking out my tummy) "You have another baby in there?" No honey, just baby Logan right here. (He then proceeds to squish on my tummy to be sure)

(August)
Mike: If we wrestle before bed then I want you going to bed without any problems.
Ethan: Maybe just one problem
Mike: What?
Ethan: I think I may have just one problem
Mike: no. no problems
Ethan: ok, no problems

Mom: Ethan do you need to go tee tee? (Grabbing his privates)
Ethan: No, I just tickling my penis

Logan is 2 months old!

Logan 2 months

Logan is a happy smiley baby who still loves his sleep! He had his 2 month appointment today (9/29) and got two shots, one in each leg and one oral vaccine. He didn't care for those too much. For stats he measured in at 24.5 inches long (95th%), and weighed 13lb 3.5oz putting him in the (75th%) clearly no problems with eating for this guy. Still breastfeeding great typically almost clockwork 3hrs during the day.

Sleeping-
Logan goes to bed between 7:30-8pm each night and nurses before bed then sleeps 6.5-8hrs before waking to nurse. 7 is pretty typical, (though we had almost two solid weeks at 8hrs which spoiled Momma). After that he will sleep another 4hrs before nursing or until I have to wake him up for school drop off (7:15). We walk big brother, Ryan, to school so I put him in my ring sling carrier and he typically continues to sleep on the walk there and back and will wake up more once we get settled at home. On his own non-school days, Logan is up between 9/9:30am for about an hour and a half then a 30/45min nap. He takes cat naps in the morning I think because he sleeps so well overnight and because we are just on the go a lot. He takes a good 2-3hr nap generally in the afternoon from about lunchtime or after a feeding until school pickup time. (2:15pm on tues/thurs) and (3:30pm on m/w/f). So, basically this little guy's schedule is to go with the flow and for the most part he is pretty laid back and sleeps when he is tired no matter where we are.

Logan is lifting up his head great and is very strong. I occasionally let him nap on his tummy when I can't cuddle with him for nap because he likes it and generally sleeps better. At bedtime he is a back sleeper with a swaddle (we like the Velcro swaddle me sacks *lifesaver!!*). He smiles and makes cooing noises that are just the sweetest thing. He has started a little bit of laughing, but more high pitched shrills of happiness for now and not quite the belly laughs just yet. He is quickly outgrowing 3 month clothing. We have already put away all the 3 month sleepers as of this last weekend and the day time clothes are soon to follow as I just washed 3-6mo yesterday in preparation for switching them out. It is hard to believe how quickly he is growing. It really is in the blink of an eye. Like they always say, the days are long, but the years (and months) are short! We are so grateful for our sweet baby, Logan! He is such a sweet baby and for that I am so thankful! Love you "Logi"(like yogi bear) or "Logs"(long O as your big brother sometimes calls you.)

Here are some photos I took with my phone (bc the camera was dead) on 9/27. Enjoy!

Logan is 1 month old!

The last picture summarizes our first month with Logan so well. He is such a good sleeper and is sleeping all the time. I recently went back and re-read my post for Ethan at age 1 month and couldn't believe how similar it was, so basically you could go and re-read the post in Oct of 2012 and also understand Logan. However, I did write him his own post last month even though I am just getting around to sharing it on the blog. Here it goes:

Logan 1 month

Stats
10lb 13.5oz
21.5 inches (length as of 3 wk appt)
Wears size 1 diapers and 3 month clothing

Sleep
Still sleeping most of the time. Awake about 4-5 hours of each day.

Feeding
He has gone 5.5-6 hours overnight between first feedings a few times, otherwise sticks to 3-4 hours at night and generally nurses every 3 hours during the day.

This past week he has started smiling more when he is awake versus just the cute smiles we see while he is sleeping. Logan loves to be held, swaddled to sleep, will occasionally take a paci for a short period of time, and spits up a lot (we go through so many burp rags). He is such a cutie pie! Love our little boy!

Anxiously awaiting Logan & name meaning

*(A post I wrote and never published about 2 wks before Logan's arrival)*

We are 9 days out now from my due date (July 24th) and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 3rd son, Logan Henry Campbell. It looks as though he wants to follow in his brother's footsteps and make us wait around likely until after his due date. This momma would be happy for him to arrive even a handful of days early because the belly is starting to get pretty heavy and I'm just ready to hold this little guy outside the womb. However, it seems each pregnancy around this time the good LORD is trying to work on a little patience in my heart and telling me that HE is in control and I am not.

I will say the number of births from friends already this month has totaled I believe 7, with still at least 4-5 more to go. This probably doesn't add to my anticipation seeing all these precious little ones arrive. It really is the biggest baby boom that I have observed recently among friends. Apparently July is a busy month for babies, who knew?

Regarding name selection, Michael and I had a really tough time deciding on a name this time around. Nothing just stood out as being "just right" and honestly I liked several names. Top picks other than Logan included Henry and Caleb (I also loved David, Mike didn't agree). I honestly had several names that I liked and Mike was quick to veto my ideas and more picky with selection. These were the 3 that we held onto and discussed the longest. I really liked Logan James and Henry Thomas, Caleb was never really discussed with middle name combinations that I remember at this point, maybe Michael? So, when it came down to it, Mike liked Logan better and I liked Henry, so we combined the two. Win-Win right??? I hope so. Not sure why the finality of name choices is so hard in general, but especially when you are picking the same gender for the 3rd time. (Hats off to my Momma friends who have picked 4 boy names...)

So, a plus to Logan is it fits with our unintentional "an" endings for our sons. Ryan, Ethan & Logan. This might be partially why this name seemed to flow so easily with our others.

Regarding the meaning of his name, Logan has an Irish origin with the meaning "from the hollow or from the meadow." I struggled with this meaning initially, though Michael assured me it truly shouldn't weigh heavily in the grand scheme of things. However, I had a dear friend discuss it with me who suggested that when we are born we are in a sense "hollow" as we are not yet with the Holy Spirit and over our life when we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit can move into our hearts and fill the hollow with His presence. What a neat word right?! Somehow this discussion stuck with me and I ultimately felt the Lord was trying to speak through her to assure me that the name was the right pick for our last baby boy.

Henry has a German origin and means "ruler of the home". As the baby of the house don't we know that will be true?! Ha! As a bonus, Henry was also the middle name of Michael's father's father. I never met him as he died back in 1983 and Michael was only 1yr old at the time. We were considering this name because we liked it before we ever even considered its familial ties. My nephew Charlie also has Henry as a middle name, so I guess it's one to carry on in the family!

With all this being said, we can't wait for Logan to arrive. The scriptures that have come to mind as I prepare for his arrival are:
Psalm 127:3 "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him." and
James 1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
Anxiously awaiting meeting you Logan!

Logan's Delivery Story

Delivery story without too many gory details...

The abbreviated version of Logan's birth is that my blood pressure was through the roof at my Dr appt Monday afternoon (like 160/100 and 147/101) not good stuff. So, being past due and 3cm and since my Dr was on call delivering that day we decided to go have a baby. At 5pm we were finally all checked in and he broke my water. He agreed to give me some time on my own to see how things progressed. Contractions started right away and were consistent 3-4 min apart the first hour, but then kind of went back and forth with a larger spread between and not very strong. I agreed to pitocin 2 units at 8pm (still 3cm) then increased to 4 units at 9pm and things progressed quickly I was 6cm at 10pm and nurse had a tech start setting up the room. I threw up once (just on schedule like my other deliveries). Baby came after pushing through 4 contractions right at 11pm. From 8-11pm was tough, but other than that it was a quick and complication free delivery pain medication free. No tear again this time which is such a relief and makes recovery from labor and delivery so much smoother! Praise the Lord!

Logan's stats were 7lb 12.9oz and 20.5" long. He is the smallest of our babies yet and as healthy as can be. We are very thankful for a quick and safe delivery!
