Anxiously awaiting Logan & name meaning

*(A post I wrote and never published about 2 wks before Logan's arrival)*

We are 9 days out now from my due date (July 24th) and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our 3rd son, Logan Henry Campbell. It looks as though he wants to follow in his brother's footsteps and make us wait around likely until after his due date. This momma would be happy for him to arrive even a handful of days early because the belly is starting to get pretty heavy and I'm just ready to hold this little guy outside the womb. However, it seems each pregnancy around this time the good LORD is trying to work on a little patience in my heart and telling me that HE is in control and I am not.

I will say the number of births from friends already this month has totaled I believe 7, with still at least 4-5 more to go. This probably doesn't add to my anticipation seeing all these precious little ones arrive. It really is the biggest baby boom that I have observed recently among friends. Apparently July is a busy month for babies, who knew?

Regarding name selection, Michael and I had a really tough time deciding on a name this time around. Nothing just stood out as being "just right" and honestly I liked several names. Top picks other than Logan included Henry and Caleb (I also loved David, Mike didn't agree). I honestly had several names that I liked and Mike was quick to veto my ideas and more picky with selection. These were the 3 that we held onto and discussed the longest. I really liked Logan James and Henry Thomas, Caleb was never really discussed with middle name combinations that I remember at this point, maybe Michael? So, when it came down to it, Mike liked Logan better and I liked Henry, so we combined the two. Win-Win right??? I hope so. Not sure why the finality of name choices is so hard in general, but especially when you are picking the same gender for the 3rd time. (Hats off to my Momma friends who have picked 4 boy names...)

So, a plus to Logan is it fits with our unintentional "an" endings for our sons. Ryan, Ethan & Logan. This might be partially why this name seemed to flow so easily with our others.

Regarding the meaning of his name, Logan has an Irish origin with the meaning "from the hollow or from the meadow." I struggled with this meaning initially, though Michael assured me it truly shouldn't weigh heavily in the grand scheme of things. However, I had a dear friend discuss it with me who suggested that when we are born we are in a sense "hollow" as we are not yet with the Holy Spirit and over our life when we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit can move into our hearts and fill the hollow with His presence. What a neat word right?! Somehow this discussion stuck with me and I ultimately felt the Lord was trying to speak through her to assure me that the name was the right pick for our last baby boy.

Henry has a German origin and means "ruler of the home". As the baby of the house don't we know that will be true?! Ha! As a bonus, Henry was also the middle name of Michael's father's father. I never met him as he died back in 1983 and Michael was only 1yr old at the time. We were considering this name because we liked it before we ever even considered its familial ties. My nephew Charlie also has Henry as a middle name, so I guess it's one to carry on in the family!

With all this being said, we can't wait for Logan to arrive. The scriptures that have come to mind as I prepare for his arrival are:
Psalm 127:3 "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him." and
James 1:17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
Anxiously awaiting meeting you Logan!
